Melanie is the BEST! My husband and I hired Melanie, after a recommendation from a mutual friend, to dog/house sit for our two dogs (a silky terrier & a maltese mix) while we were away on vacation for a week. This was our first experience with a dog sitter.
Our dogs, though small, can be a bit needy as they are both rescue dogs and are a bit shy and fearful. One of them requires medication twice daily, one of which is a liquid so requires a bit more creativity in administering it. This dog also has anxiety and a neurological disorder which can be a lot to deal with, Melanie handled her so patiently. Our dogs also don’t do stairs so sweet Melanie had to carry them up and down the stairs to go outside multiple times daily.
Melanie checked in everyday via text message, sending updates and pictures. She did call one time to make sure everything was going as planned as well, which was nice. Melanie took such good care of our babies, I know they were well-taken care of when we were gone and had lots of attention.
Melanie stayed at our place while dog sitting and I’m pretty sure the place was cleaner when we returned. She watered our plants and picked up our mail for us. As a graduate student, Melanie is very responsible and trustworthy. She came over ahead of our trip to meet the dogs and asked lots of questions so I knew she’d be prepared. We also allowed Melanie use of our car while we were away and had no issues whatsoever. I would not hesitate to have Melanie dog/house sit again in the future – she is the best.
