Frequently Asked Questions
How far do you travel for bookings?
We are only able to accept bookings within San Francisco city limits at this time, though this may change in the future!
What’s the largest dog you’ve ever sat?

Well, the “Tallest Dog” award probably goes to our Great Dane friends. But the “One Hundred Pounds of Cuddle and Love” award goes to “Big Rig” Wrigley.
What’s the smallest dog you’ve ever sat?
Tiny Leya! But believe me, her personality is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen.

What does “positive methods” mean?
Positive methods means that we go at your pet’s pace! We use careful observation of your pet’s body language, positive reinforcement like praise and treats, and gentleness, curiosity, and empathy about your pet’s experience in order to set your dog at ease and meet their needs.
It also means that we NEVER use intimidation, physical punishment, or fear. Aversive methods (including prong collars, choke collars, shock collars, and physical corrections) damage the human-animal bond, and there are far more effective training methods and tools.
This is why we decline clients who currently use aversive methods with their pets — not only are these not best practices, but they can actually contribute to aggressive behaviors, putting everyone at risk (including your pet).
We also encourage folks who may have encountered misinformation about “dominance theory” to get the latest education on best practices in dog training.
Here’s a guide on what to look for in a dog trainer, and you can search for positive methods dog trainers in your area here.
Here are some reasons we discourage the use of “invisible” or electric fences.
Will you bring in my mail, water my plants, etc?
Yes! We’ll happily do minor chores like bringing in the mail and watering plants as a courtesy. For larger projects (say, cleaning your pool — which we have done!) — we’d be happy to negotiate a fair price. Please feel free to ask.
Do you offer boarding in your own home?
Mel and Aaron are unable to offer boarding in our own home at this time, sorry!
Who have you partnered with in the past?
During our time in Charlottesville, VA, Tita’s Dog Sitting regularly received referrals from (and also highly recommends) Dog Training with Valerie, Midday Play Cville, and Joyful Animal Care. We also partnered with our good friend Erin, scholar of Buddhism and dog sitter extraordinaire.
